Description
For my second internship I was lucky enough for the Boarding Haus, Skate and Snowboard shop in down town Durango. This is a route that I'm very passionate about and could see myself potentially pursue in the future. I reached out to John Agnu, owner of the Board Haus to see if I could get some experience running a larger store. He introduced me to my mentor Jack Grornheim. Jack taught me more of the financial part of managing a business, compared to my last skate shop experienced was focused on retail and selling product. In the previous year the product was only cloths and skateboards. The boarding Haus has a way larger variety of clothing and product. Snowboards, bindings, all the accessories. In the winter time hours, we would be organizing new loads of gear into the store, waxing and base-grindings the snowboards. This experience differed from my last, because I have a lot more to work with at the Boarding Haus. I have a lot of back-ground knowledge on snow-sports. For my project I decided to recycle the snowboard wax. After the waxing process you have all this access scraps. I gathered enough to melt and press little wax bricks.
New discovery?
I found a new strengths in my winter side of sports knowledge. Coming into this internship and already knowing some facts about snowboarding. I could definitely see my self working here as a summer job, but this is not a field as the career I would want in my future. If plan A does fail, becoming a snowboard-bum and living this lifestyle would be acceptable. I have determined this would be more of a hobby than a carrer
