My Personal Philosphy
Personal Philosophy Statement
To find, create, and construct a life of meaning is a very difficult task at hand. Especially when so very young and taking a slow time of my life to process it deeply can really get you lost in a train of thought. This entire unit has been extremely interesting, never would I have expected to learn about my own life philosophy. Its a very bizarre thought to conceptualize this so-called journey of pain, laughter, joy, empathy, sorrow, compassion and so many other feelings, we call life is just insane. There is no actual meaning of life if you don't create it, you need passion in your life. Passion gives you something to live for. I live for the mountains, my family, my friends, and of course my skateboard. Doing the things you love in life most will set you on the path of eudaimonia. After sitting down and writing this philosophy statement it really makes you think hard and contemplate why we are even alive today and what is the purpose? Throughout searching for virtues in life I can find meaning and happiness to each and every individual day.
Finding your purpose doesn't take a lot of effort or work. Only patients will guide you to finding purpose. Specific people, hobbies, or family members can give you a purpose in life. For example, all the hobbies that bring me meaning involve riding a board, I tend to fall often with these hobbies and this is where patience takes place. My father has been trying to get me to ride a skateboard ever since I was little yet I hated it and thought the idea was stupid up until 8th grade. Once I was patient enough to give it a little time and effort I discovered my future, the lifestyle I want to take on. This shows that with a little bit of patience you can discover the thing that makes you happiest and time When it comes down to the meaning of life the overlooking question of them all, this is when you look back at the steps you took in life and to see the virtues that guided you. My personal belief on how to live a life of meaning is to construct self-morals that ground you to live with happiness and virtues.
As I’m sitting down in my bed applying band-aids to all my wounds that surround my legs, hands, and elbows and procrastinating to write this philosophy statement my mom enters my room and asks about the damage done to my ripped pants and the road burns on my knees. I tell her it's from skating and she asks why I keep doing it if I keep getting so beaten up. I told my mom that it's not just a sport I'm playing, it's a lifestyle that I'm living in. Do you know how difficult it is to ride a skateboard? Anyone can pick up a ball and play throw and catch but you have to be a very committed soul to skateboard. Skating influenced my choice in music, it has a big toll on the way I dress, the shoes I wear my overall style in everything. It has become a big part of my personal philosophy by creating an outlet of expression and enjoyment. Through skating, I can find happiness and meaning. I could be the most content person if I just had a skateboard for the rest of my life. I would be fine working in the service industry, small income but as long as I can ride I'll be happy.

Project Description
In this project we were assigned to create a physical piece of anything. But this particular piece needed to have a sentimental value and a deeper thought then just a piece of wood. Students were allowed to find an outlet to express how they really feel. For my physical piece I created a montage on an old skate deck with cut-outs from old thrasher mags, nat geo wild magazines and a bunch cool images that stuck out to me. On this shaped piece of wood lyes saguaro cactus and that reflects back onto my childhood living in the hot block of concrete we call Phoenix Arizona makes me feel so blessed to move into a rural town and be surrounded by snowy mountains. There is a massive Thrasher logo on the deck and that has to do with the huge influence skateboarding has had on my life. The deck on the right hand side in the image was created by another student with very similar looks and aspects of life. This was my expressive outlet to show what makes me happy.

New Insights
New insights that I developed throughout this unit were more of a deeper understanding of myself and what make me happy in life rather then a class lesson. Over the time that we had to do this project I had lots of time on my hands to think about this. What really makes you happy? Are you living your life up the fullest? By constructing self morals, like patience, kindness, love, and so many more can really put you on the path of creating a happy life. After thinking about what places me on that path in life I took those Ideas and found them in the newspaper cut-outs to add to my montage.
Further Questions and Intellectual work left to do
Well the journey of life is set in stone, I'm still cruising through it. Day by day trying to make myself and others happy. Further questions on this topic would have to be.. Whats next in my life? Where am I going to end up in life? The intellectual work left to do would all be waiting for me in the future to discover.
