Sophomore Inspire week was a full 5 days for the sophomores of Animas High School to get into the community, where we could learn, interact, and be a part of our local towns issues. This will also help us get ready and prepare for our LINK internship as we travel into our junior year as well as college. I was working with the La Plata County Youth Service (LPCYS). Most of these business were non profit organizations. My group worked very hard throughout the week and gave the youth a voice in our community, showing that adults opinions don't have heavier weight/say over a young teenager just because of age. To start this project off we first learned about resume writing, the correct formant and what to include in them. (You can view my resume under the collage and career prep drop down). To finish this week off our group made a video of all our progress including all the amazing people we worked with and what is all came down to.
For my sophomore inspire week I got to work with the La Plata County Youth Service. What are group was really striving for was to give the youth in our community a voice. We put a lot of work in. My group was assign a youth voice service project. We came to conclusion by creating a day for the youth in our community where they can be free and be themselves. In our local town Durango Colorado we got an interview with the city council to have a march down our main street and have this event for the kids. We had all these activities that connected with a sentimental meaning such as passion, creativity and much more. The march that would take place down main street would be led by youth sports groups such as the local skater and the DEVO team. We even got local artist and bands to give art and music at this event. Overall I'm very happy that this project went somewhere even in different towns throughout the La Platas.
